The 2012 Toku-Aull
Family Revue
Greetings to all and I hope this letter finds you well and
happy.
The big news this year is that we moved into Masami’s new
house (982 Palmetto Ave, Chico, CA 95926). It’s a quite spacious house for us
(about 2,000 sq. ft.) including the guest room Masami always wanted (with
Japanese tatami mat) and one big family room (600 sq. ft). It’s only 2 miles
away from our old house, so not too disruptive to our lives, other than the
stress of moving, which is not fun! The house is one block from the freeway,
which is undergoing a three year construction phase. Our first few nights in
the house we were treated to the dulcet tones of pylons being hammered into the
earth all night long, literally shaking the house. Well, it will be nice when
it’s done, hopefully in a year, complete with soundwall that should make things
more bearable. We were able to fix the house up before we moved in, with
refinished oak floors, new bamboo floor, and granite counters, so we’re pretty
happy with it. Masami got her hot tub (another really long story), pond, and
has been really excited about ruthlessly hacking vegetation and planting
things, as well as finding things for Jon to do, like putting in a new walkway.
The house is a few blocks from the Park, where Jon works, and closer to
downtown and the University where Masami works. So everyone can walk/bike to
school or work.
